Many of the existing command-line libraries aren't very flexible, and can't support basic use cases like syntax-highlighting your input. If you want interfaces common in web/desktop programs, like drop-down menus or Shift-Left and Shift-Right to highlight and select parts of your input, most existing implementations will leave you out of luck.
